Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. After her parents' divorce her parents separated, she moved to Worthington in Ohio and moved at Los Angeles. They were struggling to make ends meet at the time she landed her first role in acting in Rachel's Room's leading character. Her portrayal as Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV film Murder in Greenwich in 2002 earned her nominations for a Young Artist Award. Grace was Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. The show featured her as the principal protagonist for two seasons and won the Screen Actors Guild Award. Leaving the series Grace wanted to appear on film more frequently, having played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The actress has also appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and in 2007 as well as in Taken opposite Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. In 2008, she reprised the role Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). In addition, she played Alice as Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is the modern-day interpretation from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace performed the role of Shannon once more in the show's final episode and two other episodes. In 2013, she was a guest in the sixth series of Californication. The actress plays Faith a groupie and a muse to the stars, who catches the interest of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. She is part of Gyllenhaal's family and is the elder sibling of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her career began as an early teenager, with small role in films made from her father. She also worked with her brother in the 2001 popular film Donnie Darko. Then she appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received praise from critics for her leading roles in Secretary (2002 an erotic romantic drama), and Sherrybaby (606) Both of which garnered the actress Golden Globe Award nods. Her fame grew for her role as Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) as well as a number of successful commercials she appeared in during 2006. Following her acclaimed performance as a single mother of Crazy Heart (2009), she was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. The roles she played in subsequent films include Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang and Hysteria. Other roles she has played include the role of a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) and a musician in Frank (2014) and the title role in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a writer and director in 2021, with her drama about psychological issues The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received an award for the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award.
